Holistic Mental Health
I went to school for over ten years in an attempt to learn how to help those with psychological ailments.
About half way through I was given a book, the Bible of mental health, filled with codes and descriptions.
Sure, as the good student I was, I read through it and memorized as much as I could, but it never resonated with me. More importantly, it offered so little in terms of healing those I worked with.
I looked into best practices and began using Cognitive-Behavioral therapy with clients. Again, I felt out of alignment. I knew people were sick and suffering from debilitating psychological and health consequences – but I could never say that it was because they were thinking the wrong thoughts. Or at least their negative thoughts seemed like another symptom.
Normal worry is so different from psychological distress that is out of our control. Anxiety and depression are now-a-days more a symptom of a sick body.
If you are suffering from anxiety and/or depression know that it is not your fault. You are not thinking the wrong thoughts. More than likely your body is responding to toxic burden.
There are a great deal of environmental toxins that we ingest or take in via the air or skin. A build up of these toxins within the body can lead to psychological disturbances.
If you believe this to be the case please find a holistic practitioner who will take into account the body, mind and spirit when developing a protocol.
Each of these facets plays a role in our overall health and our mental health.
And always remember that your body wants to be well. You deserve to be well! Anxiety and depression are not your fault but can be addressed best by a holistic approach.
